Track insurance & accidents

Every RSR car is insured on track

All our rental cars carry insurance that is valid on the public road and on the track, including the Nürburgring Nordschleife during public sessions and trackdays. That is unusual — most standard rental agreements exclude the Nordschleife entirely.

In the case of an accident you are liable for damages up to the excess amount, which is listed on every car page. Entry level cars typically carry a 15,000€ track excess and 5,000€ road excess; supercars carry a higher amount.

Damage to the barriers and track

If you damage Nürburgring property — barriers, fencing, catch fencing or the track surface — the circuit invoices the driver directly. This is separate from the car insurance and is not covered by your excess.

What to do after an incident

• Stop in a safe place, get behind the barrier and stay visible.
• Call the RSR emergency number given to you at the briefing.
• Do not attempt to move a damaged car unless marshals instruct you to.
• We handle the recovery, the paperwork and the circuit.

Reducing your risk

The single best investment on your first visit is instruction. An instructor next to you for the first laps means you learn the braking points, the blind crests and the traffic rules of the Nordschleife with someone who has driven it thousands of times.
